Ecosse Reference Cables>>Speaker Cable

Product Range:
CS2.2Ultra
Here's a first: Recognising the need for an inexpensive entry-level 'speaker cable' as an upgrade to the cheapo in-the-box cables that you get (and that you MUST throw away immediately) BUT at the same time also keeping a keen eye on the home cinema/ installation side of the market we are pleased to offer our new CS2.2ULTRA speaker cable in two variants: for upgrade to cheapo cables-we offer the CS2.2 ULTRA with a vastly superior (to anything approaching this price) cotton filler + cotton wrapping insulation-conductor OD 2.0sq mm; and for av/ home cinema installation where an inexpensive but high quality cabling solution is required we offer the cable in so-called Plenum 'Easy-stripT' design ie without the cotton filling-conductor OD 2.2sq mm.
CS2.3
This 'speaker cable' has garnered multiple 'Best-Buy' and 5-star reviews worldwide and offers sublime performance at a truly modest price. At under £4.00 (UK SSP) it is without peer!!! The year it was released to the market it was awarded What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision's? Loudspeaker Cable of the Year 2000/01 - the following year it picked up another prestigious award from the same magazine.
CS2.4
The CS2.4 sets a new standard in the sub £6/m cable stakes. Here our delicate, UltraHiPurity™ stranded conductors are sheathed in a substantial - low-dielectric polypropylene insulation and carefully bound in a concentric and tight lay, then twisted. Twisting of the conductors is necessary to overcome the so called 'proximity effect' that naturally occurs when 2 conductors are close to each other and can affect the frequency response of the audio signal, specifically increases at the low frequency (bass) end.
CS4.2+
Ecosse always recommends biwiring because here the H.F (high frequency) is not affected by the electromagnetic interference from the L.F. (low frequency) signals, which are carried in separate conductors. This is our entry-level 'biwire speaker cable' and a development from our CS2.2 cable. Its makes for a superb modest-cost cable in a system offering a biwire speaker option. Here 190stands of five nines (5N) purity have been added to the 4 conductors ensuring even greater detail and clarity of a standard single-wire set-up. All four conductors are contained within a discreet and flexible single sheath for infinite ease of use. These four conductors are each precision-weave multi-strand UHP-OFC™ conductors. This cable combines all the sonic strengths of the CS2.2 'speaker cable' with all the advantages of isolation of low and high frequencies that biwiring brings. This cable clearly outperforms similar priced cables and we believe offers unprecedented value for money, particularly when used in home cinema installations.
CS4.4
Ecosse stands apart in regards to the appropriate conductors one should use in a biwire combination. Our extensive R & D confirms that a mix of multi-stranded and solidcore conductors offer greater dynamics, more extended bandwidth at frequency extremes, and the finest of detail. Our competitors fail to understand the obvious advantages of using both multi-stranded AND solid core conductors in a bi-wire configuration (they tend to use 2 x the same multi-stranded cable resulting in a rather sluggish sound). The CS4.4 'speaker cable' adheres to Ecosse's unique bi-wire cable philosophy because it is a synthesis of our award winning multi-stranded cable and our solidcore cable.
CS4.45
Biwiring should be used wherever possible because in a biwired configuration, the wires feeding the higher frequencies are not affected by electromagnetic interference from the low frequency signals that are carried by separate conductors. In this CS4.45 biwire set-up, this CS2.15 cable drives the tweeters and is the perfect match with our multi award-winning 'multistrand' CS2.3, driving the bass/mids. This represents our low cost, high performance CS biwire cable set.
CS4.7
In this biwire set-up, our recommendation is the use of our new rope-lay CS2.4 in the bass and mid-bands - which match perfectly with the superior performance of our solidcore CS2.15 (see below) to extend high frequency information. Our new CS2.4 ‘speaker’ cable has a stunning 400 oxygen free, highest quality copper strands per conductor, occupying a large 3.2sq mm cross-section.
ES2.3
We launched this cable in 2001 and in that same year it received its first comparative review- a 5-star/'Best-of-Test' (against many, more expensive cables) from What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Magazine. In 2002, it received its second-a wonderful ovation from the prestigious audiophile Hi-Fi World Magazine. They said: "…this cable is an example of high-end technology at a sensible price and one for the more 'experienced' audiophile wishing for an all round, yet advanced sounding cable." This Premier+ Grade cable has almost 800 copper strands (400 per conductor) of our UF-UHP-OFC -we call this Ultrafine™-Copper™- delicately woven wire-each just 0.07mm diameter. Never before has a cable comprising so many strands been packed into just 3 sq mm of cross-sectional conductor area, and offered at such a cost effective price
ES4.45
For systems offering greater clarity and dynamics, we offer the superb mid/hi-end biwire set-up ES4.45, which employs separate multi-strand and solidcore conductors- in separate sheaths. With the ES2.3/CS2.15 (or ES4.45 bi-wire), our ES2.3 multistrand cable drives the bass/mids and is the perfect match with the CS2.15 solidcore, driving the tweeters.
MS2.3
The MS2.3 Monocrystal™ copper conductor full bandwidth 'single-wire' is a genuine world-favourite cable. From Tokyo to Istanbul - and all points in between- the MS2.3 is fast becoming 'de-rigueur' among discerning, cost-conscious audiophiles. Never before has a cable of this precise structure, conductor purity, and quality insulation been available at real-world prices. Many are being seduced by its effortless ability to keep timing precisely, and the wide and dynamic soundstage it offers. Not surprisingly it has received consecutive What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision 'Best Speaker Cable Award @ £20+' in 1999-01 and 2000-01. 2002 saw it receiving yet another accolade-a 'RECOMMENDED' certification from Hi-Fi Choice Magazine.
